Blaenavon residents and businesses often feel like they are on top of the world, and at nearly 1800 feet it's not hard to understand why. Blaenavon was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000 and since then the Town has gone from strength to strength. Famed for the Iron Works and Big Pit, Blaenavon welcomes over 150,000 visitors every year who get to witness this area of outstanding beauty nestled between the Coity and Blorenge Mountains.

The main shopping area of Broad Street located in the heart of Blaenavon features some truly unique independent shops that welcome every visitor to the town. Since obtaining World Heritage status this area of Blaenavon has undergone a detailed period of regeneration, resulting in renovated and attractive shop fronts with a heritage feel. 2011 sees the opening of the new Rhymney Brewery micro-brewery and visitor centre, and in 2012 Blaenavon's Community Campus will be opening which will feature a brand new state of the art primary school for the Town.
